Our Story

Black Star Wine & Whiskey

The Black Star Building and "The Corner" is a staple in the Alexandria Community. From the 1950's - 70's, the Pure Oil Gas Station occupied this corner with a service station and auto repair garage. In the 1980's and 1990's would be the home to Bob Brown and his Brown Hardware. Then up until 2018, Wood Masters would use this building to refinish antique furniture and bring it back to life.

In 2023, Dan and Kelly Bunting thought it needed to be a place to bring the community back together and for everyone to get to know each other again. In November 2023, a liquor option was placed on the ballot to see if the Village People would like a Wine & Whiskey establishment in town. Remember, the village has been "Dry" since prohibition ended in 1933. It has been over 90 years since liquor has been served anywhere in town. It passed by over 75%!
